Travel Diary: Discovering the Enchanting Beauty of Sedona

Guess what? I had to spill the beans about Sedona, even though it was part of the same adventure to the Grand Canyon. Sedona is like the rockstar of red rock formations, with its dazzling scenery and lively greenery. Nestled in the heart of Arizona, Sedona stands as a testament to the awe-inspiring beauty that nature can bestow upon a landscape. Elle, after her first visit, practically became the hype queen for Sedona tourism. She saw it as this spiritual, drop-dead gorgeous place. Elle, being the genius she is, came up with the genius plan to celebrate Georgette’s birthday there. And oh my goodness, it was jaw-dropping. The red-orange rocks were like nature’s own disco lights, visually stimulating and utterly captivating.

Now, you know colors can mess with your feelings, right? Well, that red-orange magic is all about energy, passion, and creativity. Coming from Haiti, where mountains are like the daily bread, seeing those spectacular red rocks every day was like living in a fairy tale. Our stay in Sedona? Pure magic! The day before Georgette’s birthday, we hit up this amazing dinner spot – the food? A taste bud party! Even I, someone who doesn’t praise food often, was blown away. The locals? Super chill and living the dream.

The next morning, we checked out the Chapel of the Holy Cross, perched high atop the red rocks. Georgette, being the candle enthusiast she is, lit one up, naturally. (Lap limen balen pou sa li pa we yo.) After our holy adventure, we grabbed brunch at some place I can’t remember, but the food was fantastic. We met a bunch of folks from different corners of the country – I mean, who wouldn’t want to visit Sedona?

Post-brunch, it was time to rock Sedona in style. And by style, I mean a pink Jeep. The driver/tour guide was a legend, spinning tales about Sedona with a side of fun. The towering formations, shaped by millions of years of geological processes, create a breathtaking backdrop that captivates the senses. Beyond the eye candy, Sedona oozes inspiration. If you’re a creative soul like me, it’s a playground for writing, meditating, painting – or even hiking if that’s your cup of tea. Regardless, you can’t deny the beauty of the place.

The rocky roads, the mountains – it was like flipping through a magazine. Just a quick heads up, though – no pregnant ladies on the Jeep ride unless you want to deliver a mini-me in the car.

Anyways, back at the hotel, dinner preparations were underway, and let’s just say, things took a turn between getting dolled up and actual dinner time. I could spill the tea, but trust me, we’d be here all day. Dinner got cut short, thanks to some unexpected adventures – Georgette totally gets it (anmwey).

Post-dinner, the three musketeers were under the weather. But, being the trooper I am, I had to play the superhero and dash to the pharmacy for meds to rescue the rest of the Kokos. Next day, Elle and Georgette bounced back, but I was still feeling meh. Determined to conquer the Grand Canyon, we powered through – and let me tell you, it was breathtaking (check out the Grand Canyon post).

We’re already plotting a yearly spiritual trip, Sedona, God willing. Seriously, if you can swing it, go to Sedona. It’s like a vacation for your soul. Sedona won’t let you down. Surrounded by those stunning red rocks and lush greenery, you’ll feel an overwhelming sense of peace and relaxation. Sedona, big thanks for the enchanting memories. It was genuinely a mind-blowing experience for me and my sisters!
